Hello all. Basically, I am wanting to sell my car and purchase another car for roughly the same amount.

My car:
2001 Ford Taurus : $5,000 (kelley blue book value)

wanting to buy:
* 99-02 Jeep Grand Cherokee
* or something similar.
(in the $5,000 - 7,000 price range)

I have been looking on eBAY for used cars that are for sale that are fairly local to me (within 500miles). What do you guys suggest in terms of looking for places to buy used cars? (automart, local mom and pop places, used cars at honda, toyota, ford, etc)

thanks in advance,
msucurt

Just need some suggestions....thanks

hey bud! I actually have been running internet and ebay sales at a wholesale/retail used car place in richmond va for about 8 months now and let me give you some friendly advice on what you need to do...will help you save a few bucks.

1) your 01 Taurus- is it a base model, SES or SEL? how many miles? FYI- trade value will not get 5000 unless it has insanely low miles, but selling outright may, but that could take time. Black Book value (average wholesale price from auctions the past 2 weeks) is between 1700-4200...depending on specs on the vehicle.

2) Ebay is a great way to go! buy make sure that the seller is a WELL ESTABLISHED SELLER AND HAS A HIGH RATING! We have sold about 450 cars on ebay over the years and havent had any issues. Only buy from dealers though...cars are sold AS-IS typically, but dealers are a little more lenient to help customers out. Ive got 4 Jeep Limited suvs right now that I could ship tomorrow!

3) Shop autotrader and automart around your area for the Jeep u are looking for. Negotiate price and get it checked by a mechanic before purchasing.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

thanks alot man.

First, i am looking to sell my 2001 Ford Taurus SES just outright, not looking to trade in. The blue book value is $4995, so i am hoping to get 4300 for it.

Secondly, what type of jeep grand cherokees do you have at the moment?
Specs? Price? etc?....

thanks

Wish you luck on selling your car. Best to advertise is near a high school parking lot! A lot of parents of 15 1/2 to 16 year old kids are looking for a reliable vehicle for around the 4,000 mark.

We have 800 cars in our inventory at all times. Let me know price range, year, and miles you are looking for. Are you looking for a late model car with lower miles, or are you looking for a "bang for your buck" type of SUV for cheaper?

Hey I guess you work for a dealer In VA?..i am currently looking for a used car myself but I think financing will be a problem with me. My credit scores are around 550 cause of a 600 CC fraud opened up in my name a couple years ago that capital one refuses to take off my report. Haven't been to a dealership yet cause I don't want a lot on ing. showing up on my report, and its a pain in the ass to get that security freeze off when applying for credit, think you can help me out?

I am looking for something around the $8,000 - $10,000 range. I would be able to put $4,100 down in cash and finance the remaining.

I was looking into Capital One Auto Financing. Ive read on several forums both good and bad things about them. Does anyone have any experience with them?

If I were going to finance around $6,000, any suggestions on what you would do besides going to a local bank, etc....

thanks for the help

yeah, i work for one of the largest wholesale operations in Va. Financing is a big issue with a lot of people, but there are always ways to battle it. A 550 beacon score isnt great by any means, but we have financed people with much much less. Having your credit pulled isnt as bad as people think...it is what most dealerships do with it ADFTERWARDS that hurts. They shop shop shop banks to get you financed bc they dont use their brain and submit you to only 1-3 banks that fit your mold.

We deal with 18 different lenders, with each one specializing in different types of credit issues.

If you send me a credit app, I can let you know what price range, mileage, and potential money down situation that you need to look at. You can use that info for somewhere in your area or maybe there is something I have here that I can get you just being a few miles up the road in Va.

email me at golfski16@hotmail.com if you have a question. the name is John
